Hey Bud…What if at all can you recommend for a novice rower looking for something similar to the MOOV for his rowing exercise regimen.

Thanks for the review! For running, I try to run a few kilometres under a certain time everyday. Can the app tell you how long/fast you're running while you're running?or does it only sync after a run/workout? Thanks!

Moov now or the misfit shine 2? I'm inbetween. I have my Apple Watch that I love and not looking to replace. Was thinking one of these two I can leave on my ankle? Which do you like? And why?
    Thanks for the great reviews!

    – I looked forward to, bought, and used the thrillingly, magnificiently-video-promoted Moov – for several weeks until it somehow popped out of the band and got lost. I had even upgraded my cell phone to be compatible with it (Galaxy S2 to Galaxy S5, at cost of $470)
    – The main thing I'd point out is, everyone 'trusts' the data it gives, and I found sometimes it outright lied (notably about duration of sleep, which was hours wrong, not just minutes)
Curious, I posted a message on the FaceBook page asking SPECIFICALLY WHAT it is measuring, and HOW, but got no answer.
For example, steps per day – does it think I'm 'stepping' when I'm riding my bicycle into town? Sleep time – how does it decide I've gone to bed (I hadn't, I was just up late on my PC, that counted as sleep.) I really mistrust this 'measurement' until I know what the sensors and algorithms do.
I nearly bought another to see whether both would lie (I would get different results from the two Moov Nows).
    – The impression it has left me with was
    (a) the concept and intention and hypnotizingly beautiful promo video and claims are superb
    (b) everyone's trusting the measurements without even considering how they are made or how true they are
    (c) It's making fools of the customers just as it made a fool of me.
Please correct me if I'm wrong. I've considered 'buying' (in both senses) another one, but don't trust it at all right now.

I love my moov coach. I was disappointed about the "daily tracking" at first but once I realized the benefits of the coaching aspects when I was active, having something counting my steps seemed a bit pedantic. Especially since "active" minutes should also be raising your heartrate. In that case, walking 4000 steps with an elevated heart rate for 20 minutes has a much different impact than walking 4000 steps accidentally throughout the office. In my case, I wear a Garmin Vivoactive (also waterproof) as a wristwatch and my moov on my right hand. The actual active tracking statistics you get out of the moov are far greater than the Garmin, especially while being active. I find it very motivating. With the Garmin, you must be self-motivating because no one is there telling you to "pick up your cadence" or "you can do it!" while lagging during exercise. It's very fun!

Great review. You mention Bluetooth headphones for coaching but does your phone not need to be connected to the Moov by Bluetooth, meaning you can't use Bluetooth for headphones too?
